Unveiling the iPhone 4.0, Steve Jobs sold 450,000 iPad

During a keynote oranisé Thursday in Los Angeles, Steve Jobs introduced the next iPhone 4.0 software which becomes available this summer for 3G iPhone and iPod Touch 3, and fall for the iPad. He took the opportunity to give the first sales figures of the touch pad, and unveiled its strategy in advertising and video games.

He must imagine the scale. Fun, including in these columns, for it brings little innovation compared to the iPhone which is a giant copy, the iPad is on track to experience a huge success. While Thursday unveiled the iPhone OS 4.0, Steve Jobs announced that 450,000 iPad were sold by Apple since its release in the U.S. last week. It's as if every inhabitant of a city the size of Lyon (intramural), already had its touch pad. Apple can be accused of all faults in the world, but the Cupertino company knows how to sell its products as a person.

The firm has issued 600,000 electronic books with its service iBooks, which should please the publishers will see in Apple had the same savior for his time in the music industry during the release of iTunes Music Store. It is not known yet how many books were actually purchased, as iBooks offer thousands of free books from the library right Gutenberg. Similarly, over 4 million applications downloaded by users iPad, we do not know yet how many were paying.

But the star of the day at the keynote was the iPhone though, already sold 50 million copies. Apple is trying to strike while the iron is hot, and therefore does not want the iPad steals the show too. As expected, Steve Jobs has unveiled the iPhone OS 4.0, which finally gives access to multitasking. It will be possible to switch from one application to another (if provided for) by double tapping the home button, which will display a taskbar. The new software will bring other innovations, like the ability to organize applications in folders icons 9 each, or consolidate messages conversations in the "Mail" as does Gmail.

But to benefit from the summer of 2010, it will have at least one iPhone 3G. Owners of iPhone 3G or first generation iPhone and will be left on the low side, probably due to insufficient processor power to handle multiple applications simultaneously. Only certain features are available, but not multitasking. The iPad itself will be updated to iPhone OS 4.0, with all its features.

Apple also announced the launch of its own advertising network for mobile devices, IAD, with clearly stated ambition to compete with Google on its land. He has not hesitated to oppose the strategy of the firm in Mountain View, ensuring that advertising is more profitable in the heart of applications in research, provided that make it attractive for the user. He took the opportunity to tackle once again Adobe, whose Flash (which is not supported by iPhone / iPad) is currently the leader in display advertising online, by displaying interactive and animated advertisements carried in HTML 5.

Finally, Steve Jobs takes advantage of the iPhone and iPad to conquer a land which had hitherto been lacking in Apple: the video game. The firm will build on Xbox Live and Playstation Network to create a "Game Center, which will facilitate the creation of multiplayer games with friends and pool scores and other awards received during play. But with 50,000 mobile games catalog is mainly market shares of the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS that Apple hopes to titillate. Especially since many of these games will one day play on the Apple TV, if the rumor is true.

Golfer Rose rallies to seize first US win at Memorial

DUBLIN, Ohio — England's Justin Rose won the Memorial on Sunday, rallying from four shots adrift to capture his first US PGA Tour victory.

Rose posted a six-under par 66 without a bogey in the final round at Muirfield Village as he became the second straight Memorial champion to come from four strokes back to win.

Tiger Woods did the same thing here last year.

Rose won the six million-dollar event with a four-round total of 18-under 270.

Rickie Fowler, the 21-year-old rookie who held a three-shot overnight lead over Ricky Barnes and Tim Petrovic, fell off the top of the leaderboard with a double bogey at the 12th, where he hit into the water.

He carded a one-over 73 to claim second on 273 - three shots in front of Bo Van Pelt and Barnes.

Woods, playing just his fourth tournament of the year and his first since a neck injury forced him out of the final round of the Players Championship three weeks ago, carded a fourth-round even-par 72.

His tie for 19th on six-under 282 was his lowest finish since 2002 in the tournament he has won four times.

Masters champion Phil Mickelson, who again could have overtaken Woods atop the world rankings with a victory this week, closed with a 77 to share fifth place on 277 with Ryan Moore (68) and Petrovic (74).

Tornado In Millbury, Ohio, wipes out 7 People

A hard violent storm in Millbury, Ohio, killed 7 folks late Sat night. The storm as well tarnished a atomic power plant in Michigan prior to reaching Ohio.

Millbury, Ohio, is slightly east of Toledo and nearly 40 miles west of Ohio’s popular Cedar Point funfair. The town was blasted by a great thunderstorm with a funnel cloud that touched down. Seven folks have been reported dead, but the numbers could increase with time. One of the deceased is a child, reported the Associated Press.

A large path where the twister bust through Millbury had rescue teams busy as they searched for missing people. No more official figure has been published concerning how many are impaired, since the cleanup campaign is in progress.

“It is a war zone. It is pretty disheartening,” Millbury Police Chief Mark Hummer sounded out to the Associated Press.

The storm caused some problems in the Southern region of Michigan but didn't produce a deadly funnel cloud until reaching Ohio. More than 50 houses were destroyed in Ohio, and 50 others were slightly damaged. A local township police headquarters was hit by the storm, with a dispatcher on duty in the building. She spoke to Hummer when the tornado hit.

“She started saying, 'The building is shaking,' then another dispatcher came on and said, 'The roof just blew off,” said Hummer.

Police Chief Hummer flew over the tornado’s path where the majority of the damage was done, and it appeared that the funnel cloud tore open a seven-mile long path that is about a hundred yards wide. No estimates have been given regarding the total value of property that is been damaged. Broken wood, wrecked cars, and fallen trees are spread throughout the town of Millbury.

Erotica player Stephen Clancy Hill also known as "Steve Driver" dies in police force standoff

News reports last Tues told of an furious porno player from Ultima DVD Inc who went on a violent rampage, killing one co-worker and injuring two others. The man, Stephen Clancy Hill, who went by a screen name of "Steven Driver", then fled from the area and bring out a police hunt for him. His story has apparently ended just recently after an 8 hour police standoff.

According to a variety of sources including BBC News and ABC 30, the police standoff came to a tragic end on Saturday. Hill had been surrounded by a SWAT team in a residence located around Azul Drive in West Hills. The 34-year-old reportedly fled the home and climbed a nearby hill area, threatening suicide. The police standoff with Hill continued for 8 hours, with police surrounding him on the cliff area. He reportedly got a sword on him which he threatened to use to kill himself.

At about 5:30PM local time, Hill tried a jump out by the cliff, with an officer firing a taser or beanbag gun at him to attempt to subdue him as he went off the edge. The fall reportedly killed Hill, bringing his capture to a tragic end.

Hill had been working on as a cyberspace designer and half-time pornography actor for the Ultima DVD Inc. company, while also living on at the central office. He had been told he had to find a new place to live and work by last Tuesday. The actor reportedly came in a fury assaulting colleagues with a prop sword, killing one 30-year-old co-worker and injuring two others who intervened. He was said to have a history of violence, including threatening a education helper in college back in 1998 with a gun.

Miguel Cotto finishes Yuri Foreman in NY farce

Miguel Cotto acquired the WBA light-middleweight crown after holding back ace Yuri Foreman in round nine of a chaotic bout at Yankee Stadium.

With Foreman clearly in pain from a leg injury, his corner threw in the towel, but the referee didn't see who had hurled it and ordered a restart.

"I felt bad for him but you've to continue fighting," said Cotto.

The Puerto Rican is now a three-class champion, having been welterweight and light-welterweight champion before.

He improved his record to 35-2, with his 28th stoppage win, while Israeli Foreman endured his 1st defeat, in his first defence of the title he won last November with a solid decision over Daniel Santos.

Foreman, Israel's first world champion, wore a knee brace from the start to the campaign to protect an old injury, but after he slid double in the seventh round, he was distinctly in great irritation and had limited mobility.

"It was a lot pain, very sharp pain," he said later on.

"I'm world champion, now former world champion. Weren't quitting. We're international champion and we want to fight."

Referee Arthur Mercante Jr defended the chaotic end to the fight and paid tribute to Foreman's spirit.

"The towel got in during the heat of the battle," he said.

"I didn't know where it came from. There was no need to stop the fight. They were in the midst of a large battle.

"I saw he [Foreman] was game - the true heart of a champion."

Cotto was glad to get back to winning ways after losses to Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao.

"I think I proved this night to everybody who said 'Cotto is finished' that everybody has failed," Cotto said.

"I'm happy with my performance and we had worked at many things we did tonight and I think it showed."

John Wooden's Pyramid of Success

Died: John Wooden in our memory

John Wooden Pyramid Of Success Printable – John Wooden has passed away, leaving many mourning his death. By most descriptions he was always humble, and always there for his students without any hesitation. Everywhere that you look around the university that he once taught at, UCLA, there are reminders of the type of man that he was. He was born in 1910, and by all accounts lived a full life, and was one of the greatest American basketball coaches of our era. He is also a member as the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was able to enter the hall of fame both as a player and as a coach. He was nominated for each entrance into the hall of fame only twelve years apart from each other, in 1961 and then again in 1973.

When word spread of John Wooden's death, the foremost thing that popped into my beginning was a quote former University of Florida football coach Steve Spurrier used to constantly recite when he'd yank his starting quarterback and put in the backup.
"Coach John Wooden once said that the bench is a coach's best partner," Spurrier would clarify.
And in Spurrier's mind, that quote legitimized his sometimes irrational decision to change quarterbacks. Because, by gosh, if Wooden said it, it must be right.
We miss that today.
We don't have any coaches nowadays whose words have become so legendary that they are quoted verbatim by other coaches. When was the last truly memorable quote you heard from Nick Saban or Urban Meyer? Have you heard a high school coach quote Bill Belichick, Phil Jackson or John Calipari lately?
But 30, 40, 50 years after they coached their last games, you can walk into high school locker rooms across the country and find motivational quotes from Vince Lombardi or Bear Bryant or John Wooden taped or tacked to the walls. In fact, you can go into the Orlando Sentinel building right now and find Wooden's famous Pyramid of Success hanging above my desk.
"We live in such a short sound-bite world that maybe the coaches of today don't think their words are important," says Magic senior vice president Pat Williams, who wrote a book about Wooden a few years ago. "Coach Wooden was a man of letters. He loved poetry. He was a voracious reader. He thought words were important. People will be studying his principles and philosophies for the next 100 years."
To the people like Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy who grew up during UCLA's heyday, Wooden wasn't just a coach; he was a mythological figure — the all-knowing, all-seeing sage who didn't just coach basketball; he taught life.
"This is a sad moment — the end of the greatest era ever," Van Gundy said of Wooden's death. "To me and most coaches of my age, John Wooden was THE guy — the greatest coach who ever was. We were raised on his Pyramid of Success."

Among the many Wooden witticisms:
•"Be quick, but don't hurry."
•"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
•"Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."
•"Learn as if you were to live forever; live as if you were to die tomorrow."
•"The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team."

He was born in the small town of Hall, Indiana. He began his coaching career as a high school coach for the Dayton High School of Kentucky. His first year at the school was the only time in his entire career that he ever had a losing record as a coach, when the team went 6-11. He then moved on to Indiana State University. He had a successful run there as well, but his real success was found at UCLA. His complete record for his career was 664-162, with a record of 620-147 in his time at UCLA. He was able to lead the team to ten national championships, and is regarded as the greatest college basketball coach of all time.

He has been honored in many ways since his death, and continues to garner a large amount of attention in various ceremonies in his honor. The loss of John Wooden was met with extreme sadness from many individuals at UCLA, some of whom have said that they believe that he made the school what it was.

WWE Undertaker died. What happened to the Undertaker? Is the Undertaker dead?

Mark William Calaway or also known as “The Undertaker” is one of the best known American professional wrestlers. He has been showing up at the show of Smack down brand.

WWE fans are wondering if The Undertaker died after it was revealed Friday that The Undertaker was attacked by an unknown attacker over Memorial Day Weekend.

According to the WWE, The Undertaker was "found in a vegetative state" by colleague wrestler Kane. The WWE did not say whether The Undertaker had died or what else happened to him. What is acknowledged is The Undertaker won't be on hand for the future WWE Fatal 4-Way.

Apparently he was poisoned by someone *hint* Kane.

Kane pledged seek out those accountable for attacking The Undertaker, while hinting that The Undertaker may have died from the assault The Big Red Monster vowed to perform "swift, crucial vengeance" on any and all parties accountable for the "heinous assault."

There was even a funeral and eulogy for the mega star. But rest assure The Undertaker whose real name is Mark William Calaway is alive but he was injured during the recent Battle Royal Fatal 4-Way World Title PPV qualification match (Swagger, Punk, Big Show).

So the Undertaker is fine, he is healing, resting and will be back in the upcoming weeks.

So to clear things up, “The Undertaker” is not dead and it is just a false humor that is spinning around the net. There has been no answer from the family of Undertaker and from the WWE authorities on the said issue. Undertaker is indeed one of the admired names in the wrestling industry and he is considered as the most feared person in the arena. He is one of the wrestlers who are very prominent and creating changes and history. There are lots of fans who are very much awed with his type of strength and tactics when he is fighting. He has a good body built with his height of six feet and ten inches. He weighs for about three hundred pounds. Having this kind of body features he is indeed one of the large athletes. It is also astonishing that despite this body he is still fast and undeniably fast in his maneuvers. He is also known with his favorite move which is the tomb stone pile driver.
